When we founded William Hood & Company we did not set out to build a traditional boutique investment bank. We set out to build a firm that genuinely cares about the industries we cover, as well as our client partners. An important component of our mission is giving back. Our initial challenge was to find an organization that is both aligned with our values and with our business.
Last Winter on a cold and wet day, we met with Howard Schiffer in New York. Howard is the founder and CEO of Vitamin Angels, a high impact global organization that distributes vitamins to at risk populations around the world. We immediately knew that we had found an organization which we wanted to partner with for the long term.
Just five months after we made our commitment to partner with Vitamin Angels we were on our way to Uganda for a life changing week in the field with Howard and his team. Our journey took us to some of the most rural and poverty-stricken communities on earth to speak with pregnant women about their lives, play with their children and to distribute life-saving prenatal vitamins.
Along the way we documented our trip to what we now call “the last mile”. Please enjoy the short video to learn more about our trip and Vitamin Angels’ mission to eliminate newborn deaths due to vitamin deficiency diseases by 2030.
